After wondering about why everyone seems to make at least one depressing film in their teens, a different group of teachers I was with this week made this obvious point:
We tell stories that relate to ourselves and what we’re going through. The teen years are all about relationship break-ups, identity, grief, depression, loss and uncertainty.
Last week we included a HOTLIST of topics that teachers are asking for, but one we failed to include which came up in spades this week was RITES OF PASSAGE. Tomorrow on our teacher blog, we’ll list some of the films we have already on this theme (like Joonas Makkonen’s A Small Awakening - below), but I wanted to put the general call out to filmmakers of all kinds.
DO YOU HAVE A
THAT EXPLORES THE THEME OF “RITES OF PASSAGE”?
We’d love to hear from you!
